I recently attended a Travel Advisor marketing workshop in Charlotte, North Carolina at The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel. I had not done any research on the property before my trip but let me just say that I was blown away by the sheer elegance of the expansive property! Even though most of my time was preoccupied with engaging in the workshop, I made sure to find the time to schedule a tour of the facility to learn more about it…just so I could share it with all of you! Here’s what I learned:
The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel was built by a man named Smokey Bissell on the property owned by the Harris family, into which he married. All of the property sold in 2017 for a staggering $1.2 billion and is now owned by the Marriott Corporation. It was also very recently completely renovated. The main building features 199 rooms and nine suites. Rooms with a neighborhood view or golf course view are available as well as balcony rooms, accessible rooms and connecting rooms. It also offers additional event spaces, some intimate spaces for small weddings, beautiful lawn spaces, private dining, and hospitality spaces.
This property also features a 4,000 square foot, 35 room lodge. This is where the opening reception for the workshop I attended was held. This would be the perfect location to host a weekend retreat, family reunion, or a small wedding! It offers an elegant, yet casual atmosphere and really, an all-in-one environment to host an event. And if you’re looking for even more intimate accommodations, you might consider renting out The Cottage at Ballantyne. This 3,670 square foot home away from home is situated just off the first tee of the golf course. It features four king bedrooms with private baths, a spacious stone patio, and expansive views of the golf course. You will find all of the comforts of home at the Cottage at Ballantyne.
The Ballantyne typically attracts the business traveler throughout the week and families on the weekends. It features a full service spa, two tennis courts, an outdoor pool with cabanas, as well as an indoor pool that stays open from 6am -12am. It should also be noted that the Gallery Restaurant features art, all of which is for sale. There is also, an 18 course driving range and a golf pro shop. They do offer golf tournament coordination, as well. Children are welcome at the Ballantyne and are accommodated with a plethora of indoor and seasonal outdoor activities. Pets, however ARE NOT permitted, although services dogs are with advance notice.
I could go on and on about the amenities offered by this gorgeous property! I definitely plan to go back when I have more time to explore Charlotte and soak up and enjoy all of the luxury offered at The Ballantyne.
